MRHS WELCOMES LOCAL AUTHOR PATTI LARSEN!

This week MRHS students from Ms Tessier’s Writing 521 and Career Explorations courses had the opportunity to be introduced to local author Patti Larsen. Ms. Larsen visited our school to share her experiences of pursuing her dream to become a young adult novelist and how she has turned that dream into a full time career. Ms. Larsen had lots of great tips and encouraging words for the students. She has 16 novels published with more coming soon. She treated us to a reading from Family Magic and left a signed copy for the library. We thank Ms. Larsen for taking time to visit us and for her donation of a collection of her eBooks for our library.

Thanks to all who made our School Library week a great success. A special thanks to those library monitors who helped out in extra ways . We had great book suggestions for our “Books We Fall For”  contest – check out the library bulletin board and the winner of the prize basket was Alex Forrest.  The Literary Trivia was another great success with Team Average (Megan, Suzanne, Sam, Jessica and Karolyn) taking the win with 16.5 /20 correct questions. We will definitely do this again soon.

We are still patiently waiting for our new book order to arrive. I hope soon!!! I know you are anxious for new stuff!!!

Have fun tonight and stay safe!

October 2011

Well … almost!

I hope all the students of MRHS have figured out by now that the school library has relocated back to its original location … or at least 1/2 of it. Even though we were a little late getting setting up, it is good to be “home.” While we are still currently operating with only part of our collection, we are busy nonetheless and hope you drop by for a book, to catch up on some work or just to relax. Like always, we are open before classes, during all breaks /noon hour and until 4-ish after school.

Time is flying by since our return from March Break! Exam week is upon us at Morell High. That means it is time to gather up any overdue materials and bring them back to the library. Do it soon to avoid THE LIST!

On another note, as we are getting closer to the year’s end I am starting to put together a book order list for next year. If you have any suggestions, please drop me an email or pop in and tell me. I will put them in my consideration file.

Book Club members … please see the WordsNerds Book Club link for information on this month’s choice.

On the move …

I guess by now you all know the library has been moved to its temporary location while we are hosting Morell Consolidated students. In case you haven’t found us yet, head down to the Industrial Arts area. If you enter through the classroom doors (now Mr. Kelly’s class), you will see the library set up in the former office space at the back of the room. We have managed to take most of our fiction, our graphic novels, some popular non fiction and some reference materials. The magazines are still here as well as newspapers. There are 4 computers with printer for you to use as well. We are open every day … business as usual.

A special welcome to any Grade 7/8 students in the school. We would be happy to see you drop by and take a look at what we have. You are welcome to borrow books anytime!

Midterm Week …

Just a friendly reminder to all students that the library is in study mode this week. We are taking extra care to provide a quiet environment for those who wish to study during breaks, noon etc. Please respect the needs of your fellow students.

Also, a reminder to please return/renew any overdue library materials you have. Marks/report cards will be withheld if you have outstanding loans. See the overdue list posted outside library door.

Thanks and good good luck with exams!
